Dear Reverend Daniel Cenci and the Vestry of the Pohick Church of Newington,
My name is Chandrashekar "Chandra" Tamirisa.
I am a naturalized American immigrant from India since 2002.
My education at St. George’s Grammar School in Hyderabad, India is one of the city’s oldest and most respected educational institutions, founded during the British colonial period. I led my school as its Chief Prefect in 1985 for its 150th anniversary.
St. George’s is affiliated with the Church of South India (CSI), a united Protestant denomination with strong Anglican roots, firmly within the Anglican tradition, akin to Episcopalian institutions in the United States.
The school’s history and character reflect the broader legacy of British missionary education in South India, emphasizing discipline, service, and a broad, inclusive Christian ethos.
I believe happiness eludes many Virginians and Americans and my platform is for American renewal rooted in happiness in alignment with the founding values of the United States by many of America’s founders - the Virginians George Washington and Thomas Jefferson most prominent among them -
I have always been a happy person.
To achieve happiness I believe and practice in my life “propriety" and ”appropriate" behaviors which characterized George Washington, a vestryman of the Pohick Church of Newington, one of the most historically significant colonial churches in the United States, closely associated with him. Washington, as you know, took an active role in planning the church, helping select its site and contributing to its construction and governance.

Though I am a Hindu Niyogi Brahmin by birth and upbringing, non-ritualistic, I do not wear my faith or any faith on my sleeve, and my faith in the letter and spirit of Thomas Jefferson’s Letter to Danbury Baptists and the spirit of America’s founding since The Mayflower Compact of November 09, 1620 and the Separation of Church and State enshrined in the First Amendment of America’s Constitution permits me to be a Christian without having to formally convert similar to how I was educated at St. George’s.
I would like to express of my own free will my interest in being a vestryman at the Pohick Church and I am seeking endorsement from the Pohick Church for my Campaign for Congress.
Thank you,
Chandra
